DANVILLE, Va.UPDATE – 10:20 a.m. Tuesday
The suspect wanted in connection with a fatal mall shooting in Danville was arrested without incident in Burlington, North Carolina Tuesday morning (Nov. 1), according to the Danville Police Department.
Authorities told 10 News that 18-year-old Christian Isaiah Pinckney will be held in the Alamance County Jail in North Carolina until he is extradited back to the Commonwealth of Virginia to face the charges against him.

“This joint effort encompassed hours of analytical research, covert surveillance, the deployment of electronic techniques, and leads provided by the community to bring Mr. Pinkney to justice,” the Danville Police Department said.
UPDATE – 2:45 a.m. Sunday
Danville police have identified the suspect and victim in the deadly shooting at the Danville Mall.
Police say the suspect is 18-year-old Christian Isaiah Pinckney. They add he should be considered armed and dangerous.
The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Tyshais King.
ORIGINAL STORY
One person was killed in a shooting at the Danville Mall Saturday evening, according to Police.
It happened inside Hibbett Sports around 7:15 p.m. when authorities say a man pulled a gun and shot the victim, who was a customer in the store.
The suspect ran on foot from the scene.
Medics rushed the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where they later died.
Police provided two photos of the suspect they’re searching for:
“This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no public safety concern at this time,” said Danville police in a press release Saturday evening. “To ensure the safety of mall patrons, the DPD searched store by store and released patrons upon completion of the search.”
